Harvesting, Harvesting

It's that time of year around here. My kitchen table is soon to be drowning in tomatoes. So much better than last year with the tomato blight that killed the entire crop. I just love all the shapes and beautiful colors.

Here's a sneak peek of things to come around here next week. Yes, the sunflowers are blooming and I am in picking mode. Hoping the upcoming remnants of the hurricane won't blow all the plants over....

Julia and I will be at the North Amherst Farmer's Market selling our lamb meat on Saturday from 9 to 2. We started there 3 weeks ago and it is a friendly little market with lovely vendors and easy parking. It is held in the parking lot of Watroba's Market for all you locals. On Saturday September 11th, there will be a block party at the market too. How fun!

I picked up these "Turkish Eggplants" from one of the vendors. Aren't they beautiful? They remind me of persimmons in the winter. They have delicate green stripes down the sides. I haven't cooked them yet but am enjoying the simple beauty of looking at them for sure.
